In 2002, Aasha began to support a shelter home for girls located in the Dharavi slum in Mumbai. From remodeling bathrooms, providing healthcare, and enrolling each girl in a middle-class private school, our support evolved into a successful foray in social engineering.
Today, these formerly destitute and abandoned girls are confident, well-adjusted young women who speak English, have excellent computer skills, and enjoy a range of extra-curricular activities. They are well-integrated students on track to attend college and lead productive, independent lives.
